Although confident, she finds her confidence in moderation. Being overly so may come off as an unattractive or otherwise unwanted trait to have around. Through experience, she has learned a couple key points. One of which states: You can only be who you want yourself to be. Confused? Basically, she believes if you can do only one thing right in life, you’d stay true to your heart and character? In order to keep her confidence present, she focuses on one good thing she appreciates herself a day. For a couple minutes, she’ll look in a mirror and say, “I like my eyes today” or “I love my smile.” By complimenting herself, she boosts her day’s morale and let’s few take her down. Do you know those girls who shoot down compliments when they’re given? Not Dayton. When Dayton receives a compliment, she simply smiles and thanks them. Sometimes she may go as far as saying, “I know” as a joke, but never does she completely blow it out of proportion. There is a huge difference between being confident and then being cocky. Usually, Dayton feels most at ease at something she’s passionate about whether it be basketball, volleyball, or dancing around after a long day at school in her underwear. Instead of putting herself down, she’ll focus on others. She tries her best to raise other’s self esteem to make them see just how beautiful they are. This leaves her with little to no time to linger on negative thoughts about herself. If anything, Dayton hates being told she’s not worthy enough. Truth is? She is. She’s good enough to do anything she sets her mind to, and she believes that every other person has that same right. She believes her say in everything is just as important as the next person’s. She knows she’ll be judged all throughout her life, so she speaks about things she feels strongly about with a confident voice and plenty oomph to go with it. When it comes to her appearance, she doesn’t obsess over it. She’s confident enough to know for a fact if someone judges you first off from your looks, they’re not worthy of your time. Sure, she sometimes spazzes over a small zit on her face occasionally, but she knows it’s not permanent. Weight? Hardly a concern. Dayton exercises regularly, eats appropriately, and tends to her needs as well as morale. She celebrates her individuality by knowing she’s not a cookie cutter replica of that girl over there or the one chowing down on pizza a few rows away. She might sometimes wish she had a certain attribute, but she knows it can’t happen naturally, so she sucks it up and accepts it. There’s not enough time in the world to defy Mother Nature. Most of all, she doesn’t compare herself to other people. She’s her own person. She’s going to live that way. Sure, she has role models, but she’s not going to obsessively model herself after them. She accepts she has her own style, voice, opinion, and attributes. Why change yourself when you’re amazing, just the way you are? VIVACIOUS With Dayton’s confidence, she’s able to live her life on the side where the grass is greener. Because she doesn’t obsess over the opinions of others, she’s able to live in a few perspectives. The most important aspect to her is having fun. Why go through life without a light, airy view towards it? She understands there’s times to be serious, but she also believes anything can be made entertaining with a small amount of effort to make it so. Although she’d like to think she’s humorous, she knows it’s not in the sense of joking around or a witty comment, but rather her ability to make almost every situation a light one. When she does something crazy? People stare? Guess what? She doesn’t stop! The chances of her seeing them again are 0.000004%. Well, not exactly, but why worry? You’re only going to be young once, so live it with a carefree attitude towards it. Cliché, yes, but Dayton lives by one simple strand of words. Live. Laugh. Love. Learn. Why do so many people abide by it, you may ask? It’s incredibly accurate. Living, laughing, loving, and learning are all healthy ways to relieve yourself. Her weapon of choice? Breaking out into dance is an incredible way to get loose. Lady Gaga said it right when she released her single, Just Dance. Just Dance, it’ll be okay. Rather than being too careful and guarded can wear you down, so Dayton finds herself acting on impulse and stepping close to the edge. She knows her limits, but she’s willing to push them if only to make her life a little less normal. Of course, nothing’s wrong with normal. All in all, she’s a free-spirited person. Rather than live on what other people say, she ignores those who decide to tell her she’s a piece of shit who’ll never amount to anything. When there’s huge trends going on, she’ll probably refrain from them because she’s a trendsetter, not a trend follower. As for her positive attitude? She finds a positive thought to cancel every negative. I got a bad grade on this test, but I know I’ll do better next time. I’m having a bad hair day, but I’m going to have a million of those in my life, so why stress? It’s hard to do at first, but eventually, it comes as second nature. Or at least, Dayton thinks so. Rarely will Dayton flash the dark, gloomy clothing. She happens to find dark colors mood-cramping, and wearing loose, colorful clothing just makes her day just as much enjoyable. She expresses herself through her clothing. Fashion is something that she happens to be passionate about, but she won’t say no to a sporty pair of sweats and a messy ponytail. She’s not vain, y’know! She loves accessorizing too, and you know what her favorite one is? A smile! It comes as unique as any other person. Everyone’s smile is different, and that makes Dayton love hers all the more. It’s one of a kind. Although she can get hyper and a little out there, she knows where she should stop. She’s not desperate, after all. INDECISIVE Simple-minded, you’d think she’d be able to make quick, easy decisions. Indecision is another degrading aspect of Miss Dayton Regina Kitchingman. Whether it be how she’s going to do her hair that day, what to wear, or what to do, she’s completely unable to decide on her own. In all honesty, she blames it on how much time she has. Life’s too short to stress over the little things, but at the same time, all the choices there are display can be quite intimidating. Foolishly, Dayton finds herself feeling guilty if she picks something over the other. She understands it’s an abiotic object, but what if it did have feelings? What if they missed a special, one-time only deal at the movie theater for free tickets? When Dayton goes to make a decision, she happens to find every single miniscule aspect in every single possibility. She overthinks things to no end, too. Finding outcomes is a breeze for Dayton, but choosing which outcome is best? Not so much. Since decision-making tends to be a work out for her, she encourages any other members of the party she’s with to make the decisions while she follows like a lost puppy. If not, she spends a load of time on deciding rather than doing until there’s not any time left to do with it as she wishes. What’s worse? When she finally comes to a conclusion, she second guesses her decision like no other. In order to deal with her indecision, she results to probability tricks or asking someone she trusts. When the decision is left to a number in which she can roll, toss, or flip to decide by fate, she’ll jump for it. Should she wear her hair up or down? She’ll flip a coin. She’s down to six outfits she could possibly wear? She’ll roll a six-sided die. If all else fails, she knows she can always ask her friends and family for advice on something. This proves to be the least effective route, though. Instead of taking their advice, she goes to the one she had a gut-feeling about in the first place. Sometimes in order to get a decision out of her, you must tell her the wrong answer for her to know what’s right. Confusing? Extremely. Dayton is infamous for her reply, “I don’t know”, in its various forms. Whether it be I dunno, I don’t know, or even IDK, you’ll hear that from her almost half the time. Once you get to know her, you’ll know just having a plan before you invite her along is the best idea. Oh, and make it a place with a limited amount of foods and drinks unless you know her order. Knowing her, she’d take up thirty minutes just trying to choose a drink to have. By that time, the restaurant will have to close before the main entrée. RESERVED How the hell can such a lively, confident young lady like Dayton be reserved? Reserved, defined as the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as restrained in words and actions, isn’t exactly how you’d describe her. She uses the term in the sense of she wouldn’t be caught dead tangled in some other person’s business. She attempts to aid people with suffocating problems all the time, but she doesn’t want to be relied on like some supporting leg on a table. Dayton finds it more effective to figure out internal drama independently. That way, you can find yourself and feel good about yourself. Of course, she’s guilty of not staying isolated to herself on many occasions, but she usually keeps herself in check when it comes to stepping out at the appropriate times. Although seemingly contradictory to her free-spirit, she doesn’t go along blabbering about her every woe and whimsy. She’s discreet about it. If she doesn’t want to hear about your problems, she’s not going to expect anyone to listen to hers. In fact, she hates complaining altogether. It’s a weak excuse for not being strong enough, and therefore, it’s unacceptable. Though not entirely strict on her beliefs or ways of living, she lacks the ability to verbally express herself at times. She’s never been a genius at word choice, and she doesn’t expect herself to ever be, but her lack of ability to describe her conflicted emotions often troubles her. When something is bothering Dayton, she most often sets it aside to allow it to fester. She doesn’t do this intentionally, but at times she allows the thought to build until she can’t handle it anymore. When such an event happens, she usually blows up on someone she cares about and feels incredibly guilty afterwards. The thing is, Dayton feels like it’s her job to be happy for everyone. One of her goals in life is to be that girl who walks into the room and instantly, a thousand lights seem to shine. Especially when hurt and injured, she exaggerates her happiness in order to mask the agony that churns in her very innards. In hindsight, she often offers the excuse, “I’m just trying to be optimistic.” Only when a situation bothers her enough does she finally spill what she’s thinking and feeling, but only then is it to someone she’s closest to. Out of a rating of ten, unfortunately, this trait could place eight as her more negative traits. There’s thousands of people in the world with tons of flaws each. This particular trait happens to be one Dayton wished she could be more willing to change. Her impulsive need to keep an optimistic, vivacious personality with little to no problems, however, seems like a gigantic obstacle waiting to be overcome. Miranda was a waitress, Raymond left his number, and Miranda called him. After dating for a short year and a half, Miranda found out she was pregnant. Raymond proposed, and they were married. Dayton was born on April sixth eighteen years ago. She was a baby with red hair like her mother. Dayton was a quiet baby, and she was very loved. When she was about two, Miranda’s affections weren’t purely Raymond’s anymore. Miranda fell in love with Steven Wright, divorced Raymond, and went to be with him. Raymond was hurt, but he found a way to cope. Dayton was left in Miranda’s care, so Raymond was alone for the most part. Having two adult male figures in her life was confusing for Dayton, but she managed to get over it within time. By then, Raymond had a child with another woman, a fling with a broken condom. Steven and Miranda had a child of their own as well, namely Logan Kitchingman. In order to prepare for his newest daughter, Raymond requested more time with Dayton. Raymond was permitted to have her for two weeks in the summer and every other week year-round. Dayton got along well with Raymond’s second daughter, Alison, but Dayton would always be his pride and joy. She was always full of surprises. She was a generous, bright girl. All throughout school, Dayton did fairly well, made a lot of friends, and she was attractive. By the end of seventh grade, she had her first kiss, first boyfriend, and also her first heartbreak. Dayton found the transition into high school easy, too. She got along with mostly everyone. She spent time with the band geeks, nerds, punks, cheerleaders, jocks, and even a couple wallflowers. Dayton was well-liked, and she played basketball every year in high school except for her junior year. For reasons she wasn’t proud of, Dayton simply wasn’t up to be on a team. Her heart was in agony after a bad break up. She had been dating a boy named Hunter Fields. At first, he was the most perfect boyfriend. After a while, he showed his true colors. It wasn’t until he began canceling on their plans did Dayton decide to snoop. She went over to his house to find him sleeping with one of her friends. Needless to say, Dayton was crushed. Hunter had taken her virginity. However, the experience made her a stronger person. She had a better idea about what she wanted in relationships. She graduated high school with an honors diploma, and now she’s not sure where she’s going. She’s going to college for her requisites, but that’s all she has figured out. Dayton honestly doesn’t know what she wants out of life. She hopes she’ll figure it out soon, though. BEHIND THE MASK ALIAS char EXPERIENCE three years FOUND US kind of made it. CODE WORD picture perfect OTHER CHARACTERS none ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE It was Saturday. It came like any other Saturday. Yesterday was Friday, and due to Rebecca Black’s genius, she went to bed reassured Saturday would be there as soon as she opened her eyes. The morning was cold, even for a December morning. As much as she wished to stay bundled up in her warm sheets forever and ever, she knew that’d be impossible. She promised her mother she’d head over to her studio to take a few shots—again. Never mind Sawyer planned on heading to the salon later on that day. Her mother needed her, and it’d be a sin to ignore her neurotic, over-sensitive mother in her greatest time of need. Sawyer rolled her eyes. Her mother needed to overdose on chill pills or something. Quite frankly, Sawyer was losing her patience for waking up early to take pictures. Didn’t her mother know she looked absolutely horrendous until after twelve? Apparently not! As a result, Sawyer was exiting a taxi cab in a huff at eight o’clock in the morning. She thrust the wad of cash into the driver’s hand and bustled up the stairs. Her mom was waiting for her with a look on her face that Sawyer knew all too well. “Oh, don’t give me that look,” she whined. “I’m five minutes late! Get over it!” Sawyer, of course, was joking. She’d never sass her mother intentionally. As weird as it seemed, Sawyer treated her mom and dad like they were best friends. Some children couldn’t wait to get away from her parents. Sawyer didn’t feel safer with anyone but them. Them and Seth, that is. The now-blonde, green-eyed knight had been on her mind all morning. She thought about his charming smile, his goofy personality, and his signature blonde hair. All of it provoked butterflies in Sawyer, and she couldn’t wait to see him. She thought it odd he hadn’t texted her yet. He was probably sleeping, and Sawyer didn’t want to bother him. Besides, her mom had a strict “no cell phone” policy when it came to photo shoots. Sawyer often fought it, but the jury was out. No cell phones allowed. Sawyer hesitantly gave it up and adventured to the dressing room to suit up. She was surprised to find only one set. “Only one?” she called through the door, throwing her casual tee to the corner. “I told you it wouldn’t take very long,” her mother said with a sigh. Sawyer shook her head. Honestly, no one could blame her for expecting the worst. When it came to her mom, five minutes meant an hour, and an hour meant at least two or more. That’s why she wasn’t surprised when the shoot ended up taking longer than “very long.” It was honestly “very long” and a half. Sawyer was incredibly bored by the end of it. However, the product was relatively nice. Sawyer liked the shots, especially with the way they’d styled her hair. It looked wispy somehow, and it added to the mood of the photographs according to her mom. Speaking of which, her mom was falling to mush right before her eyes. She tended to do that from time to time. It was the whole “my baby girl isn’t so little anymore” kind of thing. Sawyer learned to ignore her, and finding a text message from Seth helped her do exactly that. Good morning, beautiful. I really want to see you. Want me to come over or want to come over here? Sawyer tapped her chin, glancing over at her mom. Spending time with Seth sounded fabulous, and she quickly texted him back: Be there in ten. She pecked her mother on the cheek and fled out the door. Admittedly, it took her longer than ten minutes. She appeared at Seth’s door bearing two hot coffees from Starbucks. When he answered it, she smiled at him apologetically. “Sorry, I gave myself too much credit. I can’t navigate New York as well as I thought.” Kissing him on the lips, she laughed. “But, I came bearing coffee, so all is forgiven, right?” |
