I'M SO GLAD YOU MADE IT HERE TODAY, BUT I'VE SEEM TO FORGOTTEN WHAT YOUR NAME WAS, IT WAS PAT... OR SOMETHING, RIGHT? NO, WELL, WHY DON'T YOU TELL ME IT THEN? FIRST, MIDDLE AND LAST, PLEASE. OH, AND PLEASE DO TELL ME ANY SCRUMPTIOUS NICKNAMES." emily nodded to the interviewer as she sat down across from her in the small coffee shop, twiddling her fingers slightly as she looked up, her long dark hair falling over her shoulder in waves. "it's alright, most people don't always remember my name. i'm emily rose grayson, but i'd appreciate it if you would call me em instead." "I HAVE TO SAY, THAT'S QUITE A NAME YOU GOT THERE. I DON'T THINK I'VE HEARD IT BEFORE. TELL ME, HAVE YOU ALWAYS LIVED IN PORTLAND OR HAVE YOU COME FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE?" emily watched the interviewer without much expression as they continued to speak. "well, i'm originally from manhattan, but my family moved out her when i was about six years old, so probably around nineteen ninety-nine? i can't be to sure." "OH, I DIDN'T MEAN TO MAKE YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE. HERE, LET'S LIGHTEN UP THE TOPIC A LITTLE BIT. OUT OF ALL OF THE WORDS IN THE WORLD, WHICH FIVE DESCRIBE YOU BEST AND WHY?" emily tucked a lock of hair behind her ear as she listened to the next question. "don't worry so much about making me uncomfortable. my brother is enough. now, did you say five? well, let's see..." "well, for one thing, i'd say that i'm probably more of a dreamer or an artist than anything. i tend to spend a lot more time thinking up ideas and imagining things than i do messing around with school. and let me tell you, my parents don't appreciate that much. they haven't seen my drawings though. being a dreamer will have it's perks in some places, and i guess that drawing is that place for me." emily stated as she leaned back in the chair, smiling slightly as she thought about the small drawing pad that she had left out on her desk back at her house. she imagined what her parents would think of her if they could see how well she could draw, and wondered if they would treat her any differently if they did. 'anyways, i'd probably be known as a bit shy next. now, i'm a bit different once you get to know me, but the first time i meet anyone, i tend to be pretty shy and closed off. you know, now that i think about it, i think i'm a bit more closed off to people that i first believed. i have very few friends at school you see, so i'm not always the most open person, so please excuse me if i don't feel like sharing everything with you." emily said quietly as she began to twiddle her fingers again, eyes downcast as she sat there across from the interviewer. without much of a movement she reached over and grabbed the small coffee cup from the table where she had left it and picked it up, lifting it to her lips and taking a small sip, enjoying the feeling of the hot liquid as it slowly traveled down her throat. "now, for the third, i'd probably say that i can have a bit of a temper if the situation is bad enough. i remember a few years back when i.....well let's just say that an old friend and i had a bit of a disagreement and i didn't exactly take it to well. that's part of the reason i tend to keep to myself more often than not. i just can't stand it when people feel like they're entitled to certain things or actions just because of who they are. i've never thought that about myself, and my mother is an agent for some hollywood stars out in california. it's the main reason she never really here." she said, looking out the small window in the shoppe area to the people passing by, chatting and talking with friends as they traveled to the next store. "forget my little outburst if you please. it takes a lot to anger me, but most of the time, i'm pretty nice and try not to pick a fight if it's not needed. i'm not exactly the type who goes around looking for trouble, but it has found me in the past. for those who respect me, i tend to respect them back, but the people who do that in this town are very few. i'm not exactly one of the most liked people among the royals and the populars. it's just something that i have to deal with. but other than having do deal with their crude ways, i'm a pretty down to earth person and tend to keep a pretty open mind about things." "now, for this last little quality that you want to here. i've been known to be quite intelligent. i get pretty good grades and i'm ins a few a.p. classes, but i've never really had to try to hard. i'm normally tutoring my brother when he needs it because he always says that he doesn't want to get kicked off the football team and become unpopular like me. i hate it, but my mom usually makes me help him if i say no the first time i'm asked. now that i think about it, i do have various people asking me for help at school. who knows? maybe i'll become some sort of professor or something when i'm older....i guess that will all be decided in the future." she finished, taking another sip of the coffee as she sat there quietly, thinking to herself. "I'M NOT GOING TO LIE. YOU SEEM LIKE QUITE THE CATCH. I'M SURE YOU'RE ALWAYS BUSY, HUH? DO YOU LIKE WATCHING TELEVISION OR KNITTING? WHY DON'T YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?" "well, if you honestly must know, i do like to dabble in music a bit. that's something that very few people know about me. on top of drawing of course, there isn't anything else that i do much, other than reading and watching t.v. and such. other than that, i'm normally stuck at home by myself while my brother is out partying with his friends. yah, it's a pretty boring life that i have, but i'd rather be at home than drunk at a party being screwed my some jackass." emily said, her brow knitting slightly as she gave the last statement. "YOU SOUND PRETTY FEARLESS, BUT THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING YOU'RE AFRAID OF. ANY JUICY SECRETS?" "you really want to know? the only thing i'm afraid of is that i'll stay an outcast forever. i hate knowing that whenever i pass that one group of kids in the hallway that they're all staring at me and that they're all talking and laughing at me. it's quite ironic really considering most of them used to be my friends, but i had to learn the hard way that a crowd like that can stab you in the back pretty quickly." she said quietly, crossing her arms in front of her. "DON'T TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY, BUT ARE YOU GAY? I MEAN, IT WASN'T SOMETHING YOU SAID OR ANYTHING. I'M JUST A CURIOUS OLD BADGER. UM. WHAT DO YOU FIND ATTRACTIVE? IS THAT BETTER? I GUESS YOU DON'T HAVE TO ANSWER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO." emily scoffed slightly as they asked her the question. "no, i'm not a homosexual kid. i've never been that kind of kid. now don't get me wrong, i have nothing against that kind of relationship, but it's just not me. no, i'm just plain old straight. though i haven't had much of a crush in a while. it just hasn't been on my mind, though if you are willing to put status' aside, i might just give you a chance." "ALRIGHT, ENOUGH WITH THE HEAVY STUFF. LET'S TALK ABOUT... MUSIC. I THINK YOU MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT POP OR HIP HOP EARLIER. WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE? RAP, COUNTRY, JAZZ? WHAT ARE YOUR TOP FIVE MOST PLAYED SONGS ON ITUNES?" "i didn't mention any sort of music styles earlier, but don't worry to much about it. if you must know, i do enjoy some pop artists, like the script and onerepublic for example. i've always enjoyed their style of music. there are a few country singers i enjoy such as carrie underwood, taylor swift, and rascal flatts, but other than that, i don't really listen to others much." "LISTENING TO MUSIC LIKE THAT? YOU'RE SURE TO BE A STAR IN THE NEAR FUTURE. YOU SEEM LIKE A WELL-ROUNDED YOUNG PERSON, MY DEAR. WHERE DO YOU FIND YOURSELF TO BE IN FIVE YEARS FROM NOW?" emily sighed slightly, letting her chin rest in the palm of her hand as she listened to the next question. "i'm not really sure where i'll be in the future. maybe i'll be a teacher, or a musician. i really don't know. it's sad really because i'm in my senior year and i still don't know what i want to do with my life." "IF IT MEANS ANYTHING, I'LL BE ROOTING FOR YOU WHEN THE TIME COMES. I'M SURE YOUR PARENTS WILL TOO. SPEAKING OF YOUR PARENTS, WHY DON'T YOU TELL US THEIR NAMES AND WHAT YOU THINK OF THEM! DO YOU HAVE ANY SIBLINGS, PETS, OTHER RELATIVES?" "well, my mom is selena marie grayson, and let me tell you that she's the one person that i don't like to talk about. she's always getting on me about my life and all that, but she has nothing to worry about at all because she get's to live it up good in california while hanging out with all the stars. now, my dad, he's a different story. his name is michael cale grayson, and i have to say that he is probably one of the coolest dads ever. he always listens to me, and he's always there to help me. he understands me like no one else. okay, now we get to the one and the only john michael grayson.or, as i like to call him, my idiot/jackass brother. he's your typical definition of a popular/jock in highschool, and even though he's younger than me by about a year, he still acts like he's better than me, and i hate that. as for pets, we don't have any at the moment, but i have been bugging my dad about getting a dog in the family, so who knows?" "OH, I SEE. WELL, WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME. WHY DON'T WE WRAP THIS UP WITH YOUR STORY? HOW DID YOU END UP IN PORTLAND, OREGON?" emily picked up her coffee and took another small sip before she began to answer the next question. "well, let's see now. i was born, and grew up for a while, in manhattan, new york, and that was alot of fun. i had a good life there for a while, because i had a good amount of friends that i would normally hang out with. of course, when i turned six and my mom and dad decided we were going to move here i was pretty upset. but i really didn't have much of a choice in the matter, so here we came to portland. now, i had a rough start when we first showed up, but i made a few friends, especially this one girl. she became my best friend right away. oh, what was her name......jessica, jessica taylor, that's it. well anyways, me and jessica seemed to click instantly. we ended up doing everything together, and all throughout school we were normally in the same classes. it seemed like i had a great start after moving here because after meeting jessica i became popular pretty fast. so, in a way, you could say that i went from being at the bottom of the food chain to being at the very top pretty fast. now, it was when we hit the summer between our freshman and sophomore years that things went downhill. i had been contemplating the things that we would normally do to the other kids as populars, and how we acted in general. but jessica didn't like that very much, so me and her would often get into arguments about it. one night she came over to my house just to hang out, but we started arguing again, and well....i ended up slapping her. after that our relationship began to slowly wither away, and it wasn't to long before she hated me entirely. she spread rumors about me as soon as we were back in school, and most of the people that had been my friends for so long ended up hating me just like jessica, so i was on my own. of course, there were still those few that would talk to me, but none of them were ever around me for long. i had kind of gained a bad rep around the school after that. so, i went from being pretty well liked to being an outcast in the end. now i'm just a loner, and don't really like to be around others. that need for friends wore off a long time ago." ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE The forest was filled with the sounds of birds sounding their calls to their fellows, the sound of wind drifting through the trees, causing them to bend and sway slightly. In the distance, a faint roaring could be heard a river twisted it's way through the forest, making it's way towards the sea. Above, the sky was bright, the sun shining in a cloudless blue sky. Overall, it was a beautiful day in the Olympian Forest. Among the peaceful sounds of the forest, there was another, faint, but getting louder with each passing second. And then suddenly, she was there. The large, silver colored horse galloped on the lone path to Elysian, stretching its large neck proudly as it's stride lengthened with each pound of it's strong hooves. Evelyn herself had a majestic appearance herself, one that was much like the mighty horse she rode. Her long blonde hair flew out behind her as her silver colored eyes stared straight ahead, focused on the rode before her. Her maroon velvet cloak flew out behind her as well, the fabric whipping in the wind as it did. This cloak covered her dress, which was a deep, forest green, lines of gold gracing the fabric of it to form swirls and patterns all around. Soon, after Evelyn arrived at the river, stopping her horse at the edge of the bridge that crossed over to the last section of the trail leading to Elysian. Her horse, named Elpis, reared, a loud neigh escaping the animal, kicking his legs out. Evelyn smiled slightly, and as Elpis landed, she kicked into the horses sides, and he sprang forward across the bridge, hooves clattering very loudly. Once again, Evelyn was streaking through the forests, her mind set on returning to the city that she no resided, that she was worshiped in. A small smile formed on her face as she continued on, and before long, Evelyn spotted the break in the trees. With a yank, Evelyn pulled back on Elpis' reins, stopping at the edge of the Olympian Forest to gaze at the great city of Elysian, Greece. Or, to her, home. It had been a few weeks since she had last been in Elysian, for she had gone away to the temple, just for her own benefit. Her smile widened a bit as her eyes sparkled while watching the city in the sunlight. Closing her stormy grey eyes for a moment, she remembered back to Atlantis in all it's glory, then opened her eyes once more. Reaching back, she gently pulled the hood of her cloak over her head, then kicked into Elpis' sides as she began her last stretch towards home. word count: 447 LEXI, ABOUT 6 YEARS, HOPPING THROUGH OTHER SITES, ADMIN EDIT |
