SENSIBLE most of the time, rhett has a lot of common sense. he thinks about what he does before he does it, and tries his very best to stay out of trouble. this doesn't really affect the people around him much, because he doesn't try to keep other people out of trouble. the only time he would intervene in a decision someone else was making was if it was going to put their life in danger. he's glad that he keeps himself out of trouble for the most part, and no one really ever says anything about it, because he makes sure not to put himself in any social situations where he would need to make a decision like that in front of people he goes to school with. that's one thing he avoids at all costs. WISHFUL even though he knows it will probably never happen, rhett craves the attention of that one special person that he can fall in love with, like his very own happily ever after. it's one of his fantasies, and it rules almost every moment of his time alone, like when he's at home by himself, and when he sleeps. he tries his best not to let it effect how he makes decisions, because he doesn't want it to come off like he's trying to impress someone. there are a couple people at his school that he would definitely date, but he's not worth a second glance to them. this sometimes makes him very sad, but due to the fact that he always tries to look on the brighter side of things, he doesn't show how sad he really is on the inside. who would care, anyway? INSECURE this, above all, is rhett's fatal flaw. his insecurities run deeper than the proverbial "i look fat today." or "no one is going to like my hair." rhett is insecure about just about every aspect of his life. first and foremost, his sexuality. he is the farthest thing from flaming, and he doesn't broadcast the fact that he's gay to everyone, but he's always worried that someone is going to find out, and try to ruin his life. secondly, he's insecure about the fact that his parents resent him for the death of his brother. they think it's his fault, and though they try to hide that fact, they aren't very successful. some of his insecurities are more shallow, like his appearance and things of that nature. all in all, his insecurities are what got him in the wallflowers in the first place. they kept him from social interaction, and he eventually learned to accept with the hand he was dealt, and faded into the background as one of the wallflowers. HISTORY MOTHER meredith cecilia hale FATHER joseph mark hale BROTHERS joseph mark hale, jr., deceased SISTERS N/A PETS cash, cat OTHER johnny ray baxter, grandfather, deceased THE STORY rhett joshua hale was born on october 11th, 1994 in portland, oregon to meredith and joseph hale. his parents were already the proud parents of joseph jr. who was seven years older than rhett. rhett was a surprise, albeit a good one. rhett's father worked as a consultant at an ad firm while his mother was a nurse, when she wasn't on maternity leave. so, you could say that they had it fairly easy when it came to money. even though rhett had been completely unexpected, they had had plenty of time in the nine months from his conception to prepare for him, and they really didn't have very many problems when it came to him, aside from normal baby problems. life was good. that is, until rhett's brother's accident. rhett was two years old, and he had absentmindedly strolled out into the street. his brother, having been very protective over rhett, ran out into the road just in time to push rhett out of the way of an oncoming car, taking the full force of the blow himself. he was rushed to the hospital, but he died from his injuries later that day. from that point on, things went downhill. life was no longer good, but the polar opposite. only a small percentage of marriages manage to stay together after suffering the death of a child. unfortunately, rhett's parents weren't part of that small percentage. six months after his brother's death, rhett's father left him and his mother. rhett was too young to understand then, but he would later find out that his mother and father were getting a divorce, which was finalized the following year. from then on out, his parents shared custody of rhett, and he lived with his father on weekends and alternating holidays. both of them struggled to support themselves and rhett, and secretly, they both blamed him for the death of their oldest son. had rhett not been stupid enough to play in the road, joseph would never have died. the resentment they held inside wasn't concealed very well, and rhett started to avoid contact with both of them. the only person he found refuge in was his mother's father, his grandfather. his grandfather assured him that it wasn't his fault, and that his brother would have just gone another way if it hadn't happened like it had. the refuge offered by his grandfather was short lived however, because when rhett was six, his grandfather died of natural causes at the age of eighty two. after suffering the tragic deaths of two of his family members, and having nowhere to run away to, rhett withdrew into himself. this was the genesis of all of his insecurities. in his mind, his parents hated him. when he hit puberty, it wasn't girls that he thought about, and that fact, in his own opinion, would just make his parents hate him even more. these things kept him from interacting with his peers, and he eventually began to accept the fact that he was never going to have many friends. this is how he became a wallflower. he stands on the sidelines, silently watching, and never speaking for fear of putting himself in a situation that could potentially turn out bad for him. BEHIND THE MASK ALIAS zach AGE seventeen EXPERIENCE 4-5 years FOUND US proboards support CODE WORD Mod Edit OTHER CHARACTERS none yet ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE waking up was never easy for cam. especially when he had been having peaceful dreams. ever since he had reconnected with stevie, all his dreams had been peaceful. much more so than his real life. that was why he would rather stay dreaming than wake up any day. but today, he had to get up. stevie was coming over, and he knew it. why he was still in the bed was a mystery to everyone, including himself. but when he glanced over at the clock and saw that it was nearly two, he thought that it would do to wake up and get ready. so, he slung his legs over the side of his bed, sat there momentarily, rubbed the excess sleep out of his eyes, and then got up, walking in nothing but his boxers to the bathroom, where he turned on the shower, adjusted the heat to the perfect temperature, slipped his boxers off and stepped inside. he sighed as the hot water rushed over his body, waking him completely and soothing his muscles. he set about cleaning himself, not wanting to appear dirty for stevie. anyone else he wouldn't have cared so much about. only stevie mattered that much to him. after his shower, he stepped out onto the shower mat, dried himself off and walked into his room, rifling through clothes, piecing an outfit together bit by bit. first his boxers, obviously. then his favorite pair of black skinny jeans, a white v-neck, and his nike's. he examined himself in the mirror to make sure he looked alright. he adjusted his hair a couple times and then decided that it looked good enough. he smiled at his reflection, and then looked at the clock. it was only two thirty. he didn't know what time stevie was going to be there, but he wasn't capable of waiting patiently. so, he picked up his bass and started picking out a tune, possibly a song in the future. he did do a lot of writing for last to know, and this was most likely going to be the bass line for one of their songs at some point in the future. he loved playing the bass, but it got old when he was doing it for recreational purposes while waiting on something better to show up. so he put it down and grabbed his laptop, turning it on and waiting for it to tell him to log in. he put his password in and started browsing the sites he looked at, including a few gossip blogs, just to see if there was any mention of his band or anyone he knew. there was nothing on the first blog he scanned, but on the second one, he saw stevie's name. he clicked the story and read. it was just a short entry, but it effectively shook his world. he hadn't known anything about that aspect of stevie's past, which surprised him. he hadn't been aware that they had had any secrets between the two of them back when they had dated. even when cam had cheated on stevie, he hadn't kept it a secret. he had told him about it because he didn't want stevie to have to find out from someone else. so this new information surprised him a lot. but he told himself he wouldn't say anything to stevie about it unless he brought it up first. if he hadn't told cam about it a year ago, when they had actually been dating, why would he tell him now? he probably didn't trust cam at all, and cam couldn't blame him for it. he had betrayed stevie's trust, so he didn't deserve any shred of trust that stevie had for him. cheating on stevie had been one of the worst mistakes of his life. the expression 'you don't know what you've got till its gone' comes to mind. he hadn't even meant to do it. he had gotten drunk and fucked around on stevie. he had felt so bad the next morning that he had almost cried. he had gone to stevie as soon as he had worked up the courage and it had crushed him, cam could tell. he had apologized time and time again, but it hadn't meant anything. he couldn't take back what he had already done, no matter how bad he felt about it. so they had broken up, and cam had fallen into depression. he had started drinking heavily, and he had only been nineteen. his friends had become worried about him however, and they had made him fell better little by little, until he had come out of his depression and started to feel better. but he hadn't dated again. he didn't want anyone other than stevie, and he never would, he was quite sure of that. he had worked hard with his band and they had gotten signed. moving to new york had been an experience of a lifetime, and then when he had met up with stevie again for the first time in a year, he had been ecstatic. they had been hanging out again lately, and he knew it wasn't good for either of them. they weren't together, and yet they were still seeing each other all the time and hooking up. it was just going to be worse for both of them when they weren't able to get back together again. that thought made him sad. he wished they could get back together, but he knew the chances of that were slim and none. his thought process, however, was interrupted by a knock at the door. he closed his laptop, jumped up and rushed to the door. he hesitated there, taking a deep breath and smoothing his shirt before putting his hand on the handle, and opening the door slowly, smiling at what he saw on the other side. stevie always had that effect on him. his heart started to jump and he got butterflies. it was love, and he knew it. and that only made it worse. |
