Being a paramedic, he has often finds himself in sticky situations. He has had quite a few years of experience in the business, and he has many tales to share from just that. One time, he’d been called into work in the middle of the night to assist a shooting that had occurred downtown. The gunman was still in the area, and he had to retrieve the victim without being shot. None of his other colleagues would go for it, but John had gone right into the action without a second thought. If you asked him, he’d tell you he inherited his bravery from his father. All in all, his father is his idol, and for most of his life, he’d done a great deal to walk in his footsteps. Now, John is a grown man and he knows he has to play the world by ear. He doesn’t let himself show as weak or cowardly, especially when his team or family needs him to be strong. He tries his best to be fearless, even though he has just as many fears as everyone else. John isn’t afraid of dying for someone else, either. As a paramedic, he has sworn to serve the public, and he’d do just that until he takes his last breath. MODEST It doesn’t matter what anyone says, either. John has been complimented and acknowledged many times, but he hasn’t once let the recognition go to his head. He’s a very humble man. If he knew something was extremely important to someone, he’d give up the spotlight in order to let him/her have her time to shine. John doesn’t need to be awarded or paid to do anything he loves. The fact is, John doesn’t need attention. As long as he’s enough for his wife and children, he couldn’t ask for anything more. Now, that doesn’t mean he’d allow his hard work go to waste, either. John knows his limits. He does what he’s supposed to and dislikes making a big deal about himself. He always has. He has long since accepted himself, and he doesn’t care whether or not anyone else accepts him or not. He doesn’t flaunt his strengths and he certainly doesn’t brag about his achievements. If we were to put his modest nature in a negative connotation, one could say he was just there to smile politely and take up space. Untrue, of course, but John has grown to accept everyone has their opinions, and he doesn’t always have to share his. That’s what Sophie’s for. INSOMNIAC John does have quite the difficult time sleeping. Once more, his job had shaped him to be this way. Early on in his career, John had been placed on the night shifts for as long as he can remember. After a couple years of doing so, his sleeping habits seemed to be permanently ruptured. Even though her works daylight hours now, he finds himself constantly waking up in the middle of the night. His doctor has prescribed him pills before, but he stopped taking them when he realized waking up for emergency calls during the night was near impossible when he was utilizing his medication. He has learned to deal with his sleeping patterns, but they can alter his mood if he’s not careful. Especially when he’s stressed over a case or angry because he couldn’t save someone, John’s insomniac nature can increase the likelihood of him snapping at someone for entirely no reason. Other times, he’d be too tired to participate in activities he promised to do. Never fear, the insomnia doesn’t often affect him too much. Usually, he’s a chipper man, father and husband who just can’t seem to sleep the whole night through. FLIGHTY This, above all things, is John’s biggest flaw. Much like the rest of his traits, John has been considered to be ‘flighty’ for quite some time. He tends to start projects with the intention of finishing them and never quite finishes the job. He’s not a lazy man in the least bit. His problems concern his tendency to start a ton of projects at one time without finishing the previous one. Sophia often times gets on his ass for it, but he never quite comes around to finishing them entirely. For example, half of the garage is painted, half of a retaining wall is built in the backyard, a tree house for Sarah is three-fourths done, and he has yet to finish that book Sophia had recommended he read about two years ago. He intends to finish them at some point, but for now, they’re left untouched. In his defense, his work schedule doesn’t exactly allow him a ton of time to work on his personal projects too much. Being he’s employed with an emergency-based job, he never knows when he’ll be called in for duty. As a result, his usual procrastination techniques are strengthened a great amount. They already conceived one boy three years before him, so they were already experienced in the parenting field as well. Johnathan was born as a healthy baby, so the doctors sent Trisha and Johnathan on their way home as soon as they could. When he was carried inside, he was met with love and attention. The same love and attention he’d been brought home with has never died, even to this very day! Growing up, John didn’t have a hard time socializing with the neighbors. In their Arizona neighborhood, John and his brother, Rob, always went to the pool with the neighbors next door. Doing so, John developed social skills early on. They only continued to develop and grow as he began elementary school. He excelled in his classes, which was no shock to his parents. John continued to do well in school, too. His brother was a prime role model for the younger boy, so he easily became a favorite when he received teachers Rob had already experienced. Most children hated being “second best” in the eyes of their educators, but John wasn’t like most children. He didn’t mind being known for his brother’s achievements. In fact, being told his brother’s success only made him more proud to be an Abraham child. Of course, it wasn’t only his brother’s achievements that made him well-liked. He carried similar values as his brother, so it there was obviously similarities between the two. His fifth grade teacher admired his responsibility. It was much like Rob’s. His seventh grade teachers admired his honesty. He’d been brought up to be honest, just like Rob. Only in high school did John begin to show individuality. Instead of desiring to be a lawyer like Rob, John was much more interested in the medical field. As he continued to do more research, he decided he wanted to be a paramedic. Decision made and eyes on the prize, Johnathan graduated high school at his prime age of seventeen. He was welcome in numerous colleges, but a Sacramento medical tech college was the place for him. It wasn’t as prestigious as Stanford where Rob was currently attending, but it was enough for his folks to decide to sell their Arizona home and move permanently to California. For the most part, John was satisfied with his schooling at that Sacramento college, but about halfway through, he found himself growing tired of the atmosphere. About two months later, he decided to transfer to a college in Portland, Oregon, where he’d end up finishing his education. Newly graduated, John was twenty-four. He could have graduated earlier, but a bump in the road caused him to postpone his schooling for nearly a year. Afterwards, It took him nearly three months to find a job that sustained his apartment rent, utility bills, and his hungry, never-ending appetite. His parents offered to help out, but he always refused. He was grateful for his decision, too. Doing so helped Johnathan become a more independent. He had nothing against his brother, but he noticed there were huge differences between his independence and Robert’s. It turned out moving to Portland had been a very wise idea. After four years, he finally found himself a job in the work force, where he assisted an emergency paramedic team. It was a little before Christmas when he had taken some time off to visit Robert and his parents in California. He boarded the plane and expected the ride to be dull and unentertaining as usual. It wasn’t. In fact, it was one of the greatest nights of his life. A pretty college student had been assigned to sit next to him on the plane, and she didn’t hesitate to strike up a conversation. John was interested in her at once, and their chemistry continued long after the plane ride. John thought about her for weeks, and when he returned to Portland, he decided to take her out. Man oh man, was he sure glad he did. The couple dated for a year before Johnathan decided to pop the question. She said yes without a doubt in her mind, and they were happily engaged. Not a week before the wedding, Sophia had other news. She was pregnant! Luckily, the pregnancy was close enough to the wedding so that it went off without a hitch. The couple decided not to tell a soul about their little secret. Nine months later, Sarah Alleese was born, and the newlywed couple was more in love than ever. Over time, John also found himself accepting promotions and the likes. About two years after Sarah was born, Sophia announced she was pregnant once again. Nine months later, Carter Alexander was brought into the world. Now, John is a proud father of two, husband, and paramedic by day and night. All he can hope for is another job promotion, his wife’s eternal love, a swell upbringing for his children, and the ability to finish Sarah’s tree house.
