Of course, her natural-borne talent to act happens to come in handy, too. If you tell yourself a lie so many times, it becomes true, right? That’s the key to Sydney’s madness. As long as she can convince herself of what her purpose is, things tend to fall right into place. She’s an avid liar, and although she shouldn’t be, she’s damn proud of that capability. She’s long passed the olden days of feeling guilty for a lie. It’s first nature to her now, and that tends to be a bit convincing, don’t you agree? Sydney has a way with words. Maybe after doing it all these years she has simply adapted a mind for getting what she wants. She knows how to phrase things to her benefit. She knows how to do things to her benefit. She has methods for her madness. It depends on the people who you’re looking for. Sydney is talented in changing her perspectives to fit the needs of the person or persons she is trying to persuade. For example, a teacher is wondering why she didn’t bring in her homework. Well, why use something out of the box like “my dog ate my homework?” That won’t work. They’ve heard it. Sydney tries a different approach. “I’m sorry Miss ____. I completely understand why you’re upset. It must have slipped my mind. I promise it’s on my desk at home. Done. Could I bring it in tomorrow? I’m so sorry. I had no idea… This won’t affect my grade will it? ” By overreacting, it’s convincing Sydney is worried about her overall grade. Somehow, the teacher finds a way to pity her. If she was trying to convince her grandmother to let her use her credit card for some clothes, she’d probably rant about how insulting the amount of cleavage girls show these days is or something along those general lines. OBSERVANT Just because she happens to be observant doesn’t mean she’s going to be stalking you. She happens to be observant in a specific way. She has gone through a lot of people in her life time, so she happens to have a bit of insight on the process of a human. For example, she has come to know whether or not someone is nervous around her. Typically, people refuse to make eye contact, bite their nails, stutter, sweat, fidget, or even play with their hair when they’re nervous. When people are angry, Syd can usually spot that a mile away, too. She especially hates it when people have something to say to her, but they simply beat around the bush. Sydney usually has a pretty good feeling about what you’re feeling, and unless you know how to mask it well, she’ll know. Of course, reading people isn’t her only talent. In fact, she’s observant in the classroom, too. She’s able to understand the best possible way to learn in a particular teacher’s classroom simply by their teaching style. Some teachers prefer hands-on demonstrations and expect the upmost best participation. Some are more opinion-oriented and tend to favor you if you’re one to speak your opinion. It goes without saying Sydney does best in the classes. She tends to find mistakes someone else might not find like a missing comma or something of that nature. She isn’t a nerd in the least bit, but she does happen to have intelligence greater than that of a gnat. She enjoys noticing things other people don’t, so that may be motivation. She may be pretty, but she does have some tricks under her sleeves. You just have to get her to reveal them first. Have fun with that, buddy. UNDEFINED Sydney has been quite a few places, and each time, she’d taken it upon herself to be different. She has tried out many “costumes” in her life time. From the preppy school girl she’d transformed into as a child to the California girl she’d transformed into as a sophomore in high school, it seems Sydney’s life has been riddled with masks. Since she’d been so adamant about being different with each place they’d encountered, she has found it difficult to “be herself” around people. How does she know what she’s truly like if she tries so hard to be someone she’s not? For this reason, she has become quite undefined, indeed. Sydney honestly doesn’t know who she really is. She puts on a mask, and the mask is what she becomes. There isn’t anything underneath it except for the old, worn masks of the past. Her parents often inquire where their darling Sydney had gone, but she isn’t ever able to answer such a question honestly. She doesn’t even know herself, and it’d be much too hard to go on a self-seeking mission to find who she really is. Part of Sydney blames her adopted parent’s nomadic lifestyle for her inability to be herself. She never got the chance to bloom in one place growing up, so it allowed her to grow and change into temporary molds rather than a permanent one. She wasn’t given the chance to make enough friends to keep her true to herself. From the start, it seems she was doomed to being different. The only place she began to feel like she belonged was California, and she wasn’t there long before her parents tore her away from that place, too. Maybe in time Sydney will obtain a true definition, but for now, her mask is currently: head bitch. INSENSITIVE That’s right, folks. Sydney doesn’t care about what she says, what she does, or how she acts. If she offends anyone, she’ll probably pull out the “world’s smallest violin” and play you a special piece. Her mouth is like a broken motor boat propel. It runs and runs and runs until someone has the guts to stick a rock in it to shut it down. She says what she wants, when she wants, however the hell she wants. Beware: she’s not afraid of anyone either. Sydney has been enough places to know who she needs around and who she doesn’t. Sydney doesn’t plan on staying in Portland for too long, so she doesn’t mind who she trashes and bashes. Sydney has a very dry sense of humor, so anyone who doesn’t know her might excuse her for a bitch the first time she tries to be funny. She’s also extremely sarcastic and somewhat pessimistic, so that also provides more fuel for that fire! On top of all of that, she doesn’t care what people think of her, and she certainly doesn’t respect anyone who tries to be better than her. That’s why she’s such a fearless leader. Sydney doesn’t care about pleasing the people. All she cares about is seeing things run as smoothly as humanly possible, and if a few people have to get hurt in the process, so be it! What this trait boils down to is this: Sydney doesn’t care. HISTORY MOTHER catherine ann hawkins FATHER peter anthony hawkins BROTHERS kyle james hawkins SISTERS n/a PETS puss, orange tabby OTHER n/a THE STORY Casey and Richard Harris were smart to give up Sydney for adoption when they did. They weren’t suitable parents, and little did they know Sydney was going to be quite the handful, too. Catherine and Peter Hawkins had already given birth to a beautiful son named Kyle, but they wanted another baby as well. They wanted a baby girl. Instead of trying for one the old-fashioned way, Catherine and Peter walked into the North Carolina adoption center with huge, merry grins are their faces. Sydney was an instant favorite for them. She was a quiet baby, and the couple decided that she was the baby for them. It took some time for all the papers to be filed and whatnot, but eventually, the Hawkins were toting their new baby girl home as if she was their own. The adoption center hadn’t given her a name, so they named her Sydney Maeve Hawkins with the help of her big brother, Kyle. The Hawkins remained in North Carolina for about three months before they decided they needed a bigger abode for Kyle and Sydney to grow up in. They moved to Virginia because there was a nice country home there. Sydney was only a small infant, so she couldn’t appreciate its beauty. Kyle loved it there, though. He was upset to hear they’d have to move once again only five months later. This time, they moved to Pennsylvania. Peter’s family originated in Pennsylvania, so Catherine and Peter were able to afford to stay awhile. Peter managed to land himself a nice, paying job and Catherine finally decided to let loose her roots. For the time being, it looked like the Hawkins had finally found a place where they belonged. They raised Sydney and Kyle there for quite some time until Peter was laid off, and the couple decided to move once more. At the age of four, Sydney landed in Ohio. Ohio didn’t last long, and neither did Tennessee, Kentucky, or Illinois. By the time she was eight, Sydney realized trying to make one place home was a very bad idea. As a result, she decided to make a game out of it. She was a very imaginative young child, so it was easy to make do with what she was given. She’d always wanted to be an actress, after all. Michigan was the first setting where she decided she wanted to be a nice, kind school girl. It was difficult since she was mostly nerdy anyways. In Kansas, she was a cow girl minus her own horse. She rode the neighbor’s instead. Sydney really did enjoy that phase of her life. Up until that point, she’d always been an animal lover. After all the states in between, New Mexico and Colorado seemed to be the turning point in her “acting” career. She was tired of playing the protagonist characters. She wanted to try something new, so she tried out for the cheerleading squad. At age twelve, Sydney Maeve Hawkins became popular. She had always been a good girl who played by the rules, but she didn’t want to be that anymore. She wanted to push her acting capabilities to something new and exciting! As it turned out, she also enjoyed the popularity quite a lot. For that reason, she decided to stick with popular-based masks. Each one became more and more exciting until her peak as a sophomore in high school. Somehow, Peter and Catherine had picked up a home in Los Angeles, California. They had stayed there for a long amount of time—in her books, at least. She had even been placed in the yearbook for the first time in a very long time. As cliché as it is to say, she felt as though she belonged. She had friends. She actually gave a fuck about school. Most of all, she fell in love with a boy named Spencer. Spencer was the boy who she gave everything to, including her virginity. When Peter and Catherine announced the family was moving once again, Sydney was over-the-top angry. She didn’t want to go anywhere. She loved it in LA and they couldn’t make her go. They did, but she wasn’t happy about it. Spencer broke up with her, and she was toted off to the hellhole called Portland, Oregon. She was extremely angry with her parents. Kyle was, too. They plotted to move back to California, but all of their attempts were useless. Finally defeated, Sydney tried her best to make something of her life in a new high school. She found out the school was very much clique-based, and this made her more determined than ever to get her revenge. It was easy to find out who was running the joint. Some girl with the last name Tucker. Carefully, Hawkins began to earn over her trust. When she found out about Tucker’s unwanted pregnancy, she knew she’d hit the gold mind. She instructed Weiger to help her out, and together, they took down Tucker. It was only right for her to take the crown, and she did—Gladly. Now, she’s on top of the school and living the grand life as a senior at Kimball High. BEHIND THE MASK ALIAS char EXPERIENCE three years. FOUND US the womb.
